cigarette kills the whole family

cigarette
what is it?
it is a killer
it kills not only the smokers but also the family of themselves
you believe me. don't you?
it was happened to me previously
my father was a smoker
he couldn't live without a cigarette
everyday, every morning he asked me or my sister/ my brother/ my mother to buy the killing cigarette
we couldn't say no
we couldn't refuse him
when we refuse, we would be burned by his anger
we are as his children couldn't sit and see what he did
he threw up frequently
he cough almost everyday after smoking
we were wondering his health
we tried to tell him not to do those killing activities anymore
unfortunately he ignored us, he ignored the danger of being an active smoker
my mother yelled to him, tired of telling 
unfortunately, he kept being ignorant
till one day, he cough badly
suffering of threw up
don't know what happened
by his own decision, he decide to decrease his bad habit
he tried to smoke lesser than usual
till long enough time, he didn't waste more money buying such a suck cigarette anymore
he stopped smoking
my mother stop yelling
almost, the whole family crushed just because of a small killer called cigarette


Can I go?

waiting for you is useless
wanting you is a fault
I'm not blaming you
I'm blaming me myself
I used to love someone who does not love me in return
I used to admire someone that shouldn't be admired
It's always hurt
I kill myself 
killing my heart slowly 
Fiuh...
what did I say?
was it a complaint?
perhaps
I don't want to make complaints any longer 
I wanna go somewhere or anywhere I could
far away so nobody could not find me
could not feel my sorrow
unable to realize my gloomy feeling
I just want to be known as cheerful as bee
not the one who is fragile as a glass
I wanna go peacefully
I wanna walk harmoniously
can I go now?
I wanna go immediately
without any pain sticking on my chest
without any fear appearing in my eyes





I was thinking

the rain falls heavily
no way no chance to go back to Singaraja
the thunder screams out loud
frightening me who was afraid of cloud
here, I am sitting in front of my laptop
waiting for the rain to stop falling
time keep ticking on the wall
no sign it would be stopped raining
I was thinking
should I go to Singaraja accompanied by its heavy rain
or waiting for the following day coming
no wonder no doubt
I have to wait
till the rain came to its tiredness


Third Simulation of Pak Wage's Micro Teaching Class

Yoga “Authentic Material”
            He greeted the student at the beginning of the lesson. After that he directly asked about Pengerupukan and Nyepi day. How do the students know if pengrupukan would be holiday? Some students said that they know from the calendar and the rest of them said through information/ announcement board. Thus, he talks about announcement then. Using announcement which is authentic, he asked one of the students to read the announcement out loud and the following activities; he asked several questions regarding the announcement given orally.  Furthermore he distributed printed material of announcement to the students and asked the students to answer several questions on the slide. Since, the time was up, at the end of the lesson he asked the students to make their own announcement at home as a homework.

Reni “Critical and Creative Thinking”
            She opened the lesson by asking the students whether they have watched news or not yesterday then asking what kind of news they’ve watched for those who said yes. Moreover, Reni asked what their opinion about the news is. Then she explained what the expression used to ask opinion, how to agree and how to disagree with someone’s opinion by showing material slide. As the activity of implementing material ‘critical and creative thinking’, she asked the students to make group of three. Thus, there would be four groups in the classroom which each of them will represent certain country such as: Australia, Indonesia, Japan and Malaysia. She asked the students to give their opinion and state their critical thinking about drug abuse using the expression which has explained before. In addition, each delegation was asked to give their solution to solve drug trafficking issues.

Dinda “Alternative Assessment”
            Dinda explained about narrative text. Before went further to the example of its text, she asked the students what did they do last night; whether their parents told a story before going to sleep or not. She gave several pictures on the slide and then asked the students what story it would be about. It was about Malin Kundang. She asked the student’s prior knowledge about the story by asking “what is the climax of the story”. One of the students said “Malin Kundang was cursed by her mother into a stone”. Then further activities, Dinda asked the students to make a group of three, one boy and two girls if possible. The students have to think about modifying Malin Kundang’s story and at several minutes later they have to role playing it in front of the class. Three students came in front and did a role play by using their own words; one of them act as Malin’s mother, another one act as Malin himself, and the rest act as Malin’s wife. After that, she asked the other students to give their comment toward their friend’s performance. When Dinda thought it was enough from the student’s feedback then she gave her additional feedback toward the performer. Finally, at the end of the lesson she asked the students to make their own narrative text at home as an assignment.

Opening and Closing in Teaching

Opening and closing skill while teaching is one of skill that we have to master as teacher trainee. We learned it in micro teaching class. Fortunately, I got a good model in practicing this skill, my lecturer. In this session, first ten student have to practice opening and closing skill. The other 11 students would be the assessor and the rest would be the students. The thing that should be considered when simulated it are:
The teacher trainee should tell the students the scope/ purpose of learning to be achieved by showing indicators and objectives of the study "why we learn degree of comparison" take as example.

 Another point is that attracting attention. It could be done through short song "English is important ...yes...yes...wiew...." the use of jargon.... "studentt....." "yes...."; 

The teacher should give reference. Do you know what means by reference? Reference is something dealing with "the teacher give referent toward questions that should be answered by the students. Take for example: "I have pets at home. Dog is my lovely pets. Do you have any pet at home?" or "We know that some animals are carnivore and some other are herbivore. Could you mention any carnivore that you know?"

Relating student's prior knowledge to the current issue:
(It deals with how the teacher relates or making connection between the previous material studied in previous meeting with the recent material that is explained. But it not a must to relate them when they just don't have any possible connection." What you have to do is to review previous material in previous meeting to check student's understanding for those material.

Reviewing student's understanding on the lesson by concluding/ summarizing what have been learnt
"by asking question : what do you learn today students?" or in other words we as a teacher can asked several questions regarding the material that just learned before "What is your understanding about degree of comparison that we just have learnt previously?" .....Answer: If the word/ adj consists of two syllable when making comparison it should be added by -er at the end of its adj, meanwhile for those which contains more than two syllable...it should be added by more in front of the adj...

The last but not least was evaluating. 
In here, the teacher have to give assignment that should be submitted on the following meeting.



Questioning Skill

Today was the time for the second simulators take their turn in practicing questioning skill. Before we go further toward its simulation, it would be better to talk about its criteria. The criteria for basic questioning skill are:

-expressing questions clearly and briefly 
(in here the teacher trainee should give the students a simple question which enable the student to understand it easily)

-giving reference
( there is reference before questioning)
example: If you are a rich person, what will you do? (Conditional tense, types 1)
Another example: Look at the picture! What place is it? (Picture of Tanah Lot Temple)

-Focusing
questioning the student from broader questions to the specific one

-Redirecting (giving turn to the other students answering the same questions in order to complete it)
"do you have different opinion?"
"anybody want to give additional info?"
"anybody want to clarify it to be the complete one?"
etc

-Distributing turns
Give equal chance to all of students randomly to answer different questions (Different questions to different students)

-Giving students adequate time to think
(teacher pauses three or five second after asking a question to allow the students to think.

-Prompting
(It deals with how the teacher probes initial student's answer and encourage them to complete, clarify, expand or support their answers)

Furthermore, the criteria of giving further questioning skill are:

My Lecturer's Ways in Teaching

1. Bu Ratmi
The first meeting, she asked us to find materials about what teaching and micro teaching are, its characteristic, the purpose of it, the function and its significance. We have to find material as much as possible. In order not to dominate the class, she asked students to explain what is the definition, asked the other to give additional information if it was different with the previous opinion. She acted as moderator and facilitator. She did multiple interaction in a class (student-teacher, teacher-student, student-student).  Finally, from several opinion of the students, she concluded it by combining all of the previous definition discussed and gave such a confirmation by showing her slides of the materials. What is discussed before is almost all are the same with what was being typed in her slides.
Etc,,,,, until the last topic.
Second meeting, two first group of four would fight in explaining "opening and closing skill" (the nature, purposes, components and its principles) and continued by the confirmation section. And then, the other two groups of four would fight in sharing the explaining skill.
Third meeting, as same as the second meeting but the topic is talking about questioning skill and giving reinforcement skill.

(In this situation the presenter group is responsible to deliver the information before the ones who was being the listener and audiences gave their additional information. All of the student's participation was recorded by noting their name. When the students asked question, she didn't directly answered it by herself; she tended to ask the other students who have idea about the question to give their answer and explanation. Thus, all are engaged in the teaching and learning process. All are responsible for their own learning, not only the presenter have to master or read the material but also the audiences.

Fun Way in Teaching

technique of teaching which was used by my friends when simulated a teaching practice in micro teaching class:
1.First technique which was used by Yeni Pramita 'Contextualizing Language"
she taught the students about showing sympathy/ care
she opened the classroom material by asking the students about their condition
"what happened with you dear? you look pale?!"
"i'm hungry ma'am... i haven't go to canteen yet for having my late lunch"
"....."
She moved to another student and asked the same question asking the student's condition
After that she asked the students to guess what is the material will be about
"Expressing Sympathy"
She gave several additional information how to express sympathy and its responds
In addition she gave example of the use of sympathy expression in a comic strips both formal and the informal one
The following activities is that she asked six students to go in front having a fun game related to the material taught
she brought a ball and several papers
she asked all of the six students to take one paper which contains of expression
she asked the first student "what happen with you dear?"
The student said the expression given on the paper
"I have headache"
"I'm sorry to hear that. How about going to a doctor?"........ respond
"how kind you are".....another respond
Than, asked the first student to throw the ball to whoever they want and asked his/her condition + give respond then....
Etc

2. Mursita "Building Language Awareness"
Mursita opened the class by asking whether the students wanna go home or not?
Then asked which part of a house the students like
The students answered "garden", "bathroom" etc
She wrote those words on the whiteboard
She asked what are there in a garden and bathroom
after that, she asked what we were going to learn
"Part of the house"
She ask what is the meaning of several words before giving a short text entitled "My Luxurious Flat"
"Flat" ....... (the student said the synonym is apartment)
"Closet"....... (the student said the synonym of it, is restroom)
Then they had to check whether what is intended in the text is the same as what the student guessed or not
Unfortunately based on the context in the text, closet doesn't mean a restroom but a place to put cloth (wardrobe)
The following activities, she gave a map of her house and give a peace of paper which contained another map ( we have to find the similarities of them; whether in both map we could find a temple or not)
After that, she gave us a piece of paper with several picture of house and its prices on it
we have to choose one of them as our dream house
Then, we were asked to make a paragraph contains of 15 sentences
As the final activities we watched a video of a girl who sang a song about her house

3. Mandala "Integrating Skill"
Mandala opened the class using bahasa bali, since he saw that all student are tired. The purpose is to gain the student's focus/ attention. He said that, he had told what descriptive text at previous meeting.
Then he asked who was absent that day, and he guessed that it was must be the only lazy guy named himself since he simulated the teaching practice (by describing). After that, he checked student's understanding by asking which is called 'identification' in a descriptive text given entitled "Agnes Monica". Plus asking what does identification actually mean. After that he moved to further activities 'games'. He asked Doder and Adit to mention several features or characteristic of an artist or actor (whispered by Mandala) (about in three sentences)  to the other friends, and the other friends have to guess. Finally, at the edge of the class meeting, he asked the students what they have learned that day. He dismissed the class and said "see you next week".
