Learning through a Movie

Yesterday, 5th of January night was a special day for me. I watched an Indian movie entitled Taare Zameen Par which is given by my friend, Ode. Probably, some of you had watched it. It is a touching movie so much. It succeed to make my eyes are getting swollen because of crying. It is a must for you who haven’t watched it yet to take a look on this movie. Taare Zameen Par tells about a boy who has “DYSLEXIA” problem. He can’t read and write properly in his age of nine. He confuses of alphabet’s shape. For instance, he wrote letter ‘d’ as ‘b’ which looks similar. It means he got difficulty in knowing alphabets. Also, he sees that all the letters and the numbers are dancing. In addition, he is weak in catching instructions. He got difficult to follow the instruction of back to page 65, chapter 9, paragraph 4, lines 2. The boy name’s is Ishaan Awasthi.

Ishan Awasthi isn’t a lazy or even a foolish boy. Actually he is a brilliant boy. Unfortunately it is too hard for him to study just because of his problem. All of his mark in every subject is bad. Red marks are everywhere. Also, miss spelling and too much fault in his writing test. It is too contrasted with his elder brother, Yohan. Yohan is the best student in every subject at his school. That makes his father thought that Ihsan is a lazy boy who does not want studying by his several reasons. Thus make his father was angry and decided to sent him to a dormitory.

Fortunately, in that dormitory he met a new painting teacher who can solves his problem. Nikumbh is his name. Nikumbh realizes the problem that is faced by Ishan because he ever faced the same when he was child. He told Ishan’s problem to Ishan’s family. Then he helped that boy to read, write and count with full of fun. Finally, Ishan showed a good progress. He can read even though a bit slower than the other students. At first his teachers thought that Ishan wouldn’t pass the class as what happened previously. But out of expectation, in the end of the semester, he got good marked in grammar, math and especially in art of painting. He passed the class and can enjoy the summer holiday with full of joy.

What do I learn from this movie?

First, this movie told us that we may not shout to a child. Have you heard about Salomon Island? In that island, the people won’t kill the tree by cutting it down. But they will gathering and surround the tree, shout to the tree. And do you know what happened next? At the following day, the tree was getting wilted and died. That’s why we have not to shout when give an instruction to a child, just try to give the instruction with lovely voice, full of care and love. Sure, it works.

Second and the most important thing is care. Care is very important. It has power to cure wound. That what needed by a child. Embrace and kiss to show we are care of them. Say if we love them by saying I love you and say to them “If you were afraid just come to me”.
